In lovely soft lavender, this high-quality hand-finished woven shawl uses a two-ply yarn certified as 70 percent Pashmina/30 percent silk. The fabric is dyed using modern colorfast Swiss-made dyes. Generously sized, the shawl measures 38 inches wide by 85 inches long; each end is finished with rich fringe.

Pashmina is the Tibetan name for cashmere.'Pashm,' which means'inner,' comes from the underbelly fur of the mountain goats that live in the foothills of the Himalayas and the high Tibetan plateau. Every summer shepherds gather this underfur from the goats; it's then cleaned and spun into a fine cashmere yarn.

Among the several varieties and qualities of Pashmina, the most popular is the blend of Pashmina and silk. When these materials are properly combined they produce a luxurious, sophisticated shawl which will last for years.
